Due to Coronavirus Richmondshire Youth Theatre remains CLOSED to in person workshops. We are now running online sessions for our members. We are reviewing the situation regularly and will share updated information here and on our Facebook and Instagram pages. We will also email our members with regular updates. Richmondshire Youth Theatre (ryt) workshops run throughout the school year and provide students with unique opportunities to get involved with live touring theatre.
Senior youth theatre members are encouraged to support the younger members via our mentoring program. Ryt is supported by a talented volunteer team, including many past pupils and volunteers. (Image below ‘We are Such Stuff as Memories are Made On’ and Richmond Town Hall – 2017)
From March 2021 ryt will work alongside The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy to support the creativity of our joint members. As a result ryt can now offer Acting Awards via the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). While not compulsory, this is a great opportunity for those interested in gaining a recognised acting qualification.
The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy are an award winning, family run Dance Academy with studios on the Gallowfields Trading Estate in Richmond. Their principal, Mrs Hazel Richmond, attended Royal Academy Ballet lessons from the age of 3 and Tap & Modern, from16. She trained as a dance teacher at the North of England College of Dance. Along with her 2 daughters, qualified Dance Teachers Louise and Hannah, they deliver weekly dance classes across all dance styles. They have recently welcomed Elliot Allinson to their team. Elliot trained at Sylvia Young Theatre School and Urdang Academy in London and has performed in several West End and touring Musicals including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Sound of Music and Oliver! and Matilda.
